After trading her long blonde locks for a chic shoulder-length bob, we thought Sydney Sweeney couldn’t get more daring with her hair. But after Sydney Sweeney’s Met Gala 2024 look, we realized we couldn’t be more wrong. Although we associate Sweeney with her girl-next-door blonde hair, she just completely shocked us by experimenting with hair that starkly contrasts her signature look. The change was so drastic, we can hardly recognize her.
The Met Gala is the place to make a statement with your look. Like Halloween, it’s the one night a year you can become someone completely different. Because of this, celebrities have long used the Met Gala as an excuse to completely change the way they look, even if it’s only for a night. From Kendall Jenner’s bleached brow debut to Kim Kardashian’s last-minute blonde hair (she literally did it the day before in her hotel room), the Met Gala is fashion’s biggest night for an “I did a thing” moment. Harping on this, Sydney Sweeney used the opportunity to rock a look we’ve never seen from her.
Sydney Sweeney arrived at the Met Gala wearing a blue tulle dress and black leather gloves, but all we noticed was her black bob. The bob is the exact opposite of her usual hair—its dark raven color has us feeling like there was a big glitch in the simulation. Paired with blunt bangs, she’s giving off major Snow White vibes—although all we can focus on is how wrong it feels seeing her this way.
While we can pretty much safely say this is only a wig, that doesn’t make it any less startling. Before tonight, we honestly had no clue what Sydney Sweeney would look like with a short black hair. (Because we didn’t want to know, either.) And surprisingly enough, she pulls it off just fine—but come tomorrow, we’ll feel much better when our beloved blonde Sydney Sweeney is back!
